Freesbe

Desktop and mobile

The same workspace in the browser, on your computer and in your pocket.

Freesbe runs in any modern browser and as apps: the desktop app for Windows, macOS and Linux adds native notifications, an unread badge, a tray icon, open at login, a floating call window and remote control. The phone app for iPhone and Android, in testing, has channels, DMs, huddles, meetings, push notifications and sign-in by QR code.

The desktop app

Freesbe in its own window, loading the same app as the browser, so new features arrive without reinstalling. It adds notifications for DMs, mentions and thread replies even with the window closed, an unread badge, a tray icon with your workspaces and the punch clock, open at login, and a floating call window that stays on top of your other apps.

  • macOS 12 or later, Windows 10 or 11, Linux as an AppImage
  • Zoom from 67% to 200%, and shortcuts the app lists for you
  • A frame around what you share, so you always know what others see

Links that open in the app

A meeting link, an invite or a link to a message opened in the browser hands over to the desktop app, like Zoom does, and remembers your choice. Right-click the taskbar button or the dock icon for your workspaces, a new message and your status. Only the desktop app can be controlled in a huddle or support session.

The phone app

Your channels and DMs with the same unread counts, threads, Activity, search by part of a word, to-dos, your status and drafts that follow you from your computer. Send photos from the camera, files and screenshots. Press and hold a message to react, reply, forward, save it for later or turn it into a to-do.

Calls and meetings on the phone

Join or start a huddle from any channel or DM, answer a call that rings your phone, and keep talking while you read messages or switch apps on Android. The Meetings tab lists your meetings with Join, and shows who's waiting in the lobby with Admit and Deny. Move a call from your computer to your phone with one tap.

Sign in with a scan, approve sign-ins with a tap

Scan a QR code from Freesbe on your computer and the phone signs in with nothing to type. Turn on Approve sign-ins and your phone becomes the second step: when a computer asks, tap the number it shows and confirm with your fingerprint or face. Push notifications reach the phone only while you aren't using Freesbe somewhere else.

Questions

Where do I download the desktop app?
From freesbe.net/download, from the link in your invite email, or from Get the desktop app in your account menu. The builds are in beta and aren't signed yet, so your computer asks you to confirm the first time.
Is the phone app in the app stores?
Not yet. The iPhone and Android apps are in testing, and What's new will say when you can download them. Freesbe works in the phone's browser until then.
Does the desktop app update itself?
Most of Freesbe updates without a new download, with a notice that waits while you're in a call. The Windows and Linux apps update themselves; the Mac app offers the download page while it's unsigned.
Which languages?
Freesbe follows your computer's or phone's language, in 25 languages, laid out right to left in Hebrew and Arabic.
